What does the difference mean for you?
Huel Powder and Black Edition have more protein and fibre than the respective ComFoo products in the tables above. ComFoo has more carbohydrates. If you primarily compare protein, the difference is clear. If you seek a breakfast or lunch to enjoy, consider more things: how the meal tastes, how it feels to drink and whether it fits easily into your day.
Water changes texture but adds no energy. If you mix with milk, a plant-based drink or other additions, count their contents too. We therefore compare the powders themselves and let you choose how to serve your meal.
A meal you want again.
It is easy to focus on figures when comparing two bags. But the meal also needs to work on a Tuesday when time is short. You should want to mix it, enjoy it and feel it fits among your other meals.
Taste is personal. We therefore do not name an objective taste winner between ComFoo and Huel. Chocolate can be a good starting point if you already enjoy cocoa, while a berry flavour gives another experience. Compare a similar flavour direction before dismissing an entire range.

Give texture a fair chance
Follow the bag's instructions the first time. Start with water, add powder and shake thoroughly. Use the same water temperature when comparing, then try a little more water if you prefer a thinner shake. A different mixing ratio may change the experience more than you expect.
Such a comparison says more about what you enjoy than a general description of a product as “best-tasting”. Our aim is for you to find a flavour that becomes a natural part of your everyday life.
How to mix ComFoo →ComFoo and Huel: ingredients and allergens.
A nutritional table shows quantities. The ingredient list shows which ingredients the recipe uses. Read both to understand a product, especially if you prefer or need to avoid a particular ingredient.
ComFoo Original Chocolate's ingredient list starts with oat flour, maltodextrin from maize, pea protein and vegetable oil from rapeseed. The recipe also contains fibre, cocoa, minerals and vitamins, among other ingredients. The full list, including additives and allergen information, is on the product page.
Huel Powder Chocolate v3.1 starts with oat flour, pea protein, ground flaxseed, tapioca starch and cocoa powder. Other ingredients include brown rice protein, sunflower oil powder, minerals and vitamins. The recipe also contains guar gum and xanthan gum as stabilisers and sucralose as a sweetener. See Huel's complete ingredient list for Chocolate v3.1.
For Huel, read the list specifically for Powder Chocolate in the version you order. Black Edition and ready-to-drink products have their own recipes. Using one range's ingredient list alongside another's nutritional values is misleading.
This applies to us too. Original and Sport are different ranges. Original contains oats and should not be chosen as our gluten-free option. For a gluten-free product, Sport has its own ingredients and different serving values.
Read the full ingredient list →Why a Swedish alternative?
For us, Swedish manufacturing is part of the product's identity. ComFoo is made in Skåne, and Swedish oats and rapeseed are part of our ingredient story. This is a concrete choice for buying food with local roots.
This does not mean every ingredient is Swedish. Cocoa, flavouring and other parts of a complete recipe need describing for what they are. The share of Swedish ingredients may also differ between products. Look at the actual product rather than letting one percentage represent the entire range.

Origin and climate are different questions
You can choose Swedish production for proximity, a relationship with the manufacturer or support for Swedish ingredient supply chains. Comparing climate footprints requires more than transport distances. We therefore name no climate winner without comparable calculations for the actual products.

The experience behind ComFoo
ComFoo's founder Albin Sandell previously worked with Plenny Shake under the SweJoy name in Sweden. That experience helped form the background to developing a Swedish alternative of his own.
Our direction is simple: meals that are easy to use and that you want to return to. The story explains our choices, while the product's contents help you assess them.
