Short answer: ComFoo is a Swedish brand with meal powders manufactured in Sweden according to our product information. This describes manufacturing. The origin of ingredients and a product's climate footprint are separate questions requiring their own evidence.

What does Swedish-made ComFoo mean?

When choosing a product, you want to understand the words on the bag. A Swedish company can use ingredients from several countries, and an ingredient may be grown in one place and processed in another. It is clearer to discuss the brand, manufacturing and ingredients separately.

ComFoo's company story describes the journey from the idea of an easier meal to a product manufactured in Sweden. It explains our choice of production. For the contents of the bag you actually buy, current product information and the label are the next step.

Origin of an ingredientWhere oats or a protein ingredient, for example, come from. The ingredient list states what is included; it is not automatically a certificate of origin.

From an idea to ComFoo

In our company timeline the work begins in 2016 with Albin Sandell's idea of food that would be easier to arrange in everyday life. The project was then called Framtidsmat and launched under the SweJoy brand. When the supplier partnership did not last, the work was paused.

During the restart in 2019, production in Sweden became part of the direction. The company story describes collaboration with people from Brösarp and work on recipes and form. ComFoo took shape and launched in 2020. This is our own account of the company's history; it is not independent quality certification.

What matters to you as a user is the outcome of that development: which ingredients are in your chosen flavour, how the powder should be mixed and which quantity the declaration refers to. These facts can inform a practical purchase decision.

Raw materials, ingredients and country of manufacture

An ingredient list helps you see what a product contains and which allergens need attention. It cannot establish what proportion of the raw materials comes from a particular country. A percentage also needs a clear basis: weight, number of ingredients or something else?

The Swedish Food Agency's guidance on origin labelling distinguishes a food's stated origin from the origin of a primary ingredient. The information required depends on the product and how its origin is presented. A Swedish flag or wording about Sweden should therefore be read alongside the rest of the labelling.

We give no single origin percentage for all ComFoo ranges here. If ingredient origins are essential to your choice, ask about the specific ingredient in the specific flavour. Names such as Original, Sport or Krismat do not replace that check.

Swedish manufacturing and sustainability

Manufacturing in Sweden may be part of your choice. It does not by itself show how the product compares with another meal in climate terms. Ingredients, manufacturing, packaging, transport and how the food is used affect what a comparison needs to answer.

We therefore name no climate winner and state no kilograms of carbon dioxide saved based on country of manufacture. Practically, start with things you can track: choose a flavour you use, store it as labelled and plan the quantity so the food gets eaten. This is an everyday task, not a calculated climate result.

Three checks before your first purchase

  1. Choose the right range and flavour. Read current product information rather than an older general description.
  2. Review the contents. Check ingredients, allergen information and declaration basis for the same version.
  3. Plan its use. See what you need for mixing, storage and cleaning on your chosen occasion.
